Clint Steyn
Clint is a leading international infrastructure and projects lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the acquisition, development and project financing of independent power, water and other infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Africa regions. Based in Dubai since 2009, Clint has advised sponsors and lenders on many of the ground-breaking regional renewables projects over the past decade.
Clint was instrumental in the successful establishment of Alcazar Energy Partners, one of the region’s first renewable energy investment platforms, first as external counsel and then serving as General Counsel from 2016 to 2018. During this time Clint led the legal team on the successful acquisition and development of Alcazar’s portfolio of seven renewable energy projects.
Clint returned to private practice in 2019 as a partner at Bracewell where he serves as the Regional Head of Projects. Clint also previously served as regional General Counsel for International Power.
Clint has consistently been recognized by both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories as a leading lawyer in infrastructure. He was named by the Legal 500 EMEA as one of eight “Leading Individuals” practicing in UAE Energy & Infrastructure for 2016-2017”, who described Clint as “one of the best power and water specialists in the Gulf”. Clint is recognized in the most recent Chambers Global 2022 rankings: Middle East-wide: Projects & Energy and Legal 500 EMEA 2022 rankings: UAE Infrastructure and Projects (Including Project Finance) as a leading practitioner, with Legal 500 saying “…. Clint Steyn is the best infrastructure and project finance lawyer I have worked with”.
Clint also featured in Dii – Desert Energy, Who’s Who in MENAT Renewables, 2017, which recognizes the 250 most influential renewable energy sector professionals in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
