Daniel is the Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Alcazar Energy.

Daniel has developed several GW of renewable energy projects including the first and second utility scale wind farms in the Middle East. Two of the first solar PV plants in the UAE as well as in Jordan, the first solar CSP plant in the Middle East, the world’s first CSP Tower project with salt storage and the world’s largest off-shore wind farm as of 2014. Prior to founding Alcazar Energy Partners, Daniel had the opportunity to lead investments in various successful renewable energy development platforms such as Fotowatio, Torresol Energy and Theolia among others.

Daniel has over 22 years of experience and holds degrees in Industrial Engineering & Finance from University of Massachusetts at Amherst (Cum-Laude) and an MBA from London Business School.

Markus joined Alcazar Energy in 2014 and was responsible for project financing, structuring and negotiation. Under his leadership, Markus arranged USD 470m debt facilities for AEP-I and prior to AEP-I he advised/arranged over USD 10bn of project financings.

Markus worked for 5 years as an SVP in Mubadala’s Structured Finance & Capital Markets unit. As a senior transactor Markus led the structuring and negotiation of third party multi-sourced financings across Mubadala’s geographically diverse portfolio spanning sectors including: renewable energy, aluminium smelting, aerospace, infrastructure, utilities and leasing.

Markus worked in ABN AMRO Bank and latterly RBS’s project finance unit for approximately 14 years in both a financial advisory and lead arranging capacity. Markus’ geographic focus was originally biased towards western Europe but broadened to emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa with a broad sector remit including power and infrastructure.

Markus has over 30 years of experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, a master’s in Energy Studies from Sussex University and an MBA from City University London.

Adriana joined Alcazar Energy in 2014 and currently serves as a Partner. Adriana joined Daniel Calderon to start up AEP-I working on the design and implementation of its business strategy and its organizational and operational model. Adriana played a key role in areas of Governance, ESG and Risk Management.

Prior to Alcazar Energy, Adriana worked as a Management Consultant at Accenture and Oliver Wyman. During her career Adriana specialized in market entry strategies, participated/led seven large startups across Asian, Middle East, Europe and Latin America. Adriana also served as the leader of the general consulting group for Oliver Wyman and was responsible for the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.

Adriana has over 25 years of experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Affairs from University Externado of Colombia and an MBA from Cambridge University.

Clint is a leading international infrastructure and projects lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the acquisition, development and project financing of independent power, water and other infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Africa regions. Based in Dubai since 2009, Clint has advised sponsors and lenders on many of the ground-breaking regional renewables projects over the past decade.

Clint was instrumental in the successful establishment of Alcazar Energy Partners, one of the region’s first renewable energy investment platforms, first as external counsel and then serving as General Counsel from 2016 to 2018. During this time Clint led the legal team on the successful acquisition and development of Alcazar’s portfolio of seven renewable energy projects.

Clint returned to private practice in 2019 as a partner at Bracewell where he serves as the Regional Head of Projects. Clint also previously served as regional General Counsel for International Power.

Clint has consistently been recognized by both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories as a leading lawyer in infrastructure. He was named by the Legal 500 EMEA as one of eight “Leading Individuals” practicing in UAE Energy & Infrastructure for 2016-2017”, who described Clint as “one of the best power and water specialists in the Gulf”. Clint is recognized in the most recent Chambers Global 2022 rankings: Middle East-wide: Projects & Energy and Legal 500 EMEA 2022 rankings: UAE Infrastructure and Projects (Including Project Finance) as a leading practitioner, with Legal 500 saying “…. Clint Steyn is the best infrastructure and project finance lawyer I have worked with”.

Clint also featured in Dii – Desert Energy, Who’s Who in MENAT Renewables, 2017, which recognizes the 250 most influential renewable energy sector professionals in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

Daniel joined Alcazar Energy in 2016 and currently serves as a Partner. His responsibilities include managing the design, delivery, ESG activities and operations of all AEP-II projects. Daniel has deep knowledge & experience in managing construction and operations of renewable energy projects in emerging markets. He also has an extensive relationship network with the main international suppliers and contractors across the renewable energy market.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Daniel worked for 7 years for Iberdrola Engineering and Construction in the UK as Head of UK Onshore Renewables, Head of Global Offshore Renewables and Contract Manager of Scottish Power Energy Networks Projects. During this period Daniel created the in-house offshore renewables engineering and construction capabilities for Iberdrola including the definition and recruitment of a 150+ team to design and build Iberdrola’s offshore wind farms in Europe. Daniel also implemented the transition of Scottish Power Energy Networks’ design and construction capabilities in-house, integrating and recruiting a team of 80+ staff. Previously he worked 9 years for Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion in Qatar, Mexico and Spain as, among others, head of T&D department and Project Manager of T&D and Renewable Energy Projects.

Daniel has over 21 years of experience and holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICAI) in Madrid and an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Madrid.

With a tenure of 18+ years of legal counsel roles within the project finance industry, Nadia has extensive experience in the public aid for development and emerging markets fields.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Nadia worked as a Legal Director at AMEA Power, in Dubai, as well as at Proparco and the French Development Agency, in Paris. Nadia started her career working for the Luxembourg firm, Arendt, where she evolved within the M&A and the Banking & Finance teams before joining the Paris office of the English firm Wragge & Co.

Nadia passed both the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Bar Association (Avocat à la Cour) in July 2007 and the Paris Bar Association (Avocat) in 2011 and holds a law degree from Duke University, Durham North Carolina, USA.

Mai brings over 13 years of regulatory compliance experience to the team.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Mai was the Global Head of Compliance at Equitix, an FCA regulated manager headquartered in London. Prior to this role, Mai also held compliance positions with Ardian and Aon.

Mai is responsible for ensuring the firm's adherence to local and international regulations and supports the team to deliver excellence, through increasing efficiencies, streamlining processes and reporting.

Mai has a BSc Honours in Mathematics from the University of Manchester.

Piotr joined Alcazar Energy in 2015 and currently works as a Principal in the Investment Team. His responsibilities include origination, strategic project and market analysis, financial modelling, execution and monitoring of investments.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Piotr worked as a M&A Manager at PGE Polish Energy Group responsible for execution of renewable energy transactions in Poland. Before that he worked in the Energy and Utilities Advisory team at KPMG Poland and Corporate Finance Department at Banco Espirito Santo de Investimento.

Piotr has over 16 years of experience and holds an MSc degree in Business Management from the University of Warsaw.

Enrico joined Alcazar Energy in 2023 and currently works as a Principal in the Investment Team. His responsibilities include origination, financial modelling, execution and investments monitoring. 

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Enrico worked as a Senior Investment Manager at SDCL, responsible for origination, execution and management of energy efficiency and decentralised generation investments worldwide. Before that, he worked at Platina Partners, focusing on renewables investments. He also has work experience as engineer, strategy consultant and investment banker.  

Enrico has over 16 years of experience and holds an MBA from London Business School, a Master’s in Energy and Environmental Economics from Bocconi University and a Master's in Electrical Engineering from Università degli Studi di Pavia.  

Tim joined Alcazar Energy in 2015 and currently serves as a Principal in the Investments team. His responsibilities include asset management, corporate finance, compliance, insurance matters and all aspects of project finance.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Tim worked in the renewable sector as Asset Management Head of Finance at Element Power. Prior to that, he worked at BNY Mellon and Quintas Partners.

Tim has over 13 years of experience, is a Qualified Accountant and a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and also received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland.

Jordan joined Alcazar Energy in 2023 and is currently serving as a Principal in the Investments team. His responsibilities include origination, execution, financial modelling and monitoring of investments. 

Before joining Alcazar Energy, Jordan worked as an Associate Principal and lead for Climate Adaptation & Resilience investments at the Soros Economic Development Fund.

Prior to that, Jordan was an Investment Manager in the Infrastructure Equity Investment team at, British International Investment, with primary focus on the African Power market. At BII Jordan executed deals across the Renewables, Logistics and Commercial Real Estate sectors.

Jordan spent the first 5 years of his career at Goldman Sachs, first as a Financial Analyst in the Private Wealth Management Division, covering UK clients, before moving to the Natural Resources M&A team, where he executed transactions in the Utilities, Mining, and Oil Services sectors.

Jordan has over 13 years of experience and holds a MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge, and a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Kent.

Albert joined Alcazar Energy in 2024. Prior to joining the team, Albert worked as a Senior Investment Manager at abrdn, responsible for origination, execution and management of infrastructure investments across Europe. Prior to that, he worked in the Power & Utilities M&A team at Citigroup in London.

His responsibilities include origination, financial modelling, execution and investments monitoring.

Albert has over 10 years of experience and holds a BA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, USA.

Diego joined Alcazar Energy in 2022 and currently works as an Associate in the Investment Team. His responsibilities include financial modelling, market analysis and preparing deal pursuit material. 

Before joining Alcazar Energy, Diego worked as an Analyst for BlackRock’s infrastructure investment team based in Mexico City. He also did an internship at Cubico Sustainable Investments. 

Diego has 5 years of experience and holds a BS degree in Economics from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM). 

Connor joined Alcazar Energy in 2023 and currently works as an Associate in the Investment Team. His responsibilities include financial modelling, market analysis and preparing deal pursuit material.

Before joining Alcazar Energy, Connor most recently worked as a Junior Banker within the Investec Power and Infrastructure Team where he was primarily engaged with Project Finance lending. Prior to Investec Connor was an Analyst within the EY Financial Modelling Team based in London.

Connor has 5 years of experience and holds an MSc in Financial Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and an MA (Hons) in Economics and Finance from Heriot-Watt University.

Amanda joined Alcazar Energy in 2023. Prior to joining the team, Amanda worked as an Analyst within the Morgan Stanley Power and Utilities Team where she was a 2nd year Analyst based in London.

Her responsibilities include financial modelling, market analysis and preparing deal pursuit material.

Amanda has 3 years of experience and holds both a Bachelors and Masters from Stockholm school of Economics.

Mohamed joined the team of Alcazar Energy in 2017 and currently serves as Senior Director - Egypt. His responsibilities include originating new business opportunities, stakeholder management, and attainment of project permits and authorisations.

Mohamed has over 29 years of experience in the electricity generation and transmission fields within Egypt and the UAE. As part of Alcazar Energy Partners (AEP-I), Mohamed served as a Board of Directors Member of the Benban Developers Association. Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Mohamed worked for the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) as head of the renewable energy unit since the beginning of the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) program in 2014. He was responsible for the development of 2GW solar PV parks and 2GW wind plants within the FiT program. He also participated in the preparation Project Principal Agreements (PPA, NCC, UA) and the Egyptian Solar Code. Prior to that, he worked for over 11 years at Al Ain Distribution Company, one of ADWEA subsidiaries in the UAE, as Maintenance Engineer and later on as Senior Projects Engineer. He started his career in EETC in 1994 where he worked as Metering & Power Quality Engineer.

Mohamed holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Power and Machines Engineering from Mansoura University and he is a Certified Project Manager from Emirates University.

Marko is an Electrical Engineer with 23 years of experience working as a Technical Director / Head of Sector Construction as well as with the Montenegrin Government in various roles within the Ministry of Economy.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Marko worked as a Project Manager at CEDIS in Montenegro for their investment department. Marko was responsible for providing strategic guidance for clients' leadership and management teams on the conceptualisation and execution of renewable energy projects, aligning with organisational objectives and sustainability goals.

His responsibilities will include supporting the Investment and Delivery Teams, providing local support for our development activities and will also be the focal point of Alcazar Energy in Montenegro.

Marko holds an Electrical Engineering Degree (dipl.el.ing), from the University of Montenegro, Podgorica.

Srna has an impressive 30+ of experience within Sustainability, Environmental, Capacity Building in Higher Education Leader and Consulting.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Srna worked as Head of Project Office for the University of Montenegro where she developed new partnerships with EU and conducted Global academic, research and business communities. Srna has worked in various environmental roles within the government sector in Montenegro over the course of her career.

Srna has a PhD in Security Science, Environment and security and a B.Sc. in biology from the university of Montenegro.

Gaizka joined Alcazar Energy in 2018 and currently serves as Senior Project and Operations Manager. His responsibilities include the management of technical, construction and O&M aspects of projects during origination, development, construction and operation across Alcazar Energy’s portfolio.

Gaizka has over 21 years experience in the renewable energy and infrastructure industry, and worked across several countries like Spain and Brazil, Mexico.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Gaizka worked with Iberdrola and Eiffage Energia as Project Manager, Construction Manager and Operations Manager.

Gaizka holds a M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering.

Enrique joined Alcazar Energy in 2024. Prior to joining the team, Enrique worked as a Senior Project Manager at OHLA Group in Spain.

His responsibilities will include leading the project engineering, technical, construction and techno- commercial activities at the origination, development and construction stages of Alcazar Energy’s renewable energy projects, providing advice, expertise, and support.

Enrique has 20+ years of experience holds aa Bachelor of Mine Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Mines & Energy Technical School, Madrid, Spain. As well as a Masters of Energy and Fossil Fuels, from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Mines & Energy Technical School, Madrid, Spain.

Patricia joined Alcazar Energy in 2018 and currently serves as Environment & Social Manager. She drives the integration of sound environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into investment analysis and decision making, from deal origination, due diligence, and active asset management, through to exit.

She is responsible for managing environmental and social related aspects of our projects under development, construction and operation including the development of E&S assessments, the implementation of Project-specific QHSE management systems, and the monitoring of E&S performance across our assets. Her work contributes to enabling and preserving the long-term value of our assets and ensuring the application of best ESG international practices whilst leveraging opportunities to maximise the social and environmental benefits that our projects have the potential to bring.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Patricia worked as the Global Environmental, Social and Governance Officer for The Abraaj Group and prior to that as Senior Environmental & Social Consultant for 5 Capitals and ERM in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Patricia has over 15 years of experience and holds a B.Eng. Degree in Agriculture and Environment fand a MSc. in Water Management from Spanish and UK universities.

Rob joined Alcazar Energy in 2017 and currently serves as Senior Project Engineer. His responsibilities include the management of technical aspects of projects during origination, development, construction and operation across Alcazar Energy’s portfolio.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Rob managed the operational assets for an independent renewable energy developer and utility in the UK (Good Energy).

Rob has over 10 years of experience and holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Aberdeen.

Mamoune joined Alcazar Energy in 2024. Prior to joining the team, Mamoune worked as a Senior Construction Manager at EDPR France & Belgium.

His responsibilities will include leading the project engineering, technical, construction and techno- commercial activities at the origination, development and construction stages of Alcazar Energy’s renewable energy projects, providing advice, expertise, and support.

Mamoune has 9 years of experience and holds an Energy & Environment Engineering degree from ECE Paris (Ecole Centrale d’Electronique).

Giorgio joined Alcazar Energy in 2017 and currently serves as Senior Energy Resource Analyst. Giorgio’s responsibilities include providing technical inputs related to energy productions, development budgets, red flag analysis and technical due diligence for projects under development as well as in operation.

Giorgio has over 15 years experience in the renewable energy industry. Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Giorgio worked in Spain for CIRCE (Research Centre for Energy Resources and Consumption) where he carried out energy production assessment studies for wind farm projects. He later worked for AMDA Energía, a Spanish based renewable energy projects developer. Following these experiences, he joined Nordteco, a Costa Rican based company providing consultancy services to the Latin American wind energy industry.

Giorgio holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Padua (Italy) and a Master degree in Renewable Energies from the University of Zaragoza/CIRCE.

Mariam Saleh joined Alcazar Energy in 2023 as a Senior Environmental and Social Specialist. Her role entails supporting the Company in fulfilling environmental and social requirements through conducting and coordinating a variety of environmental and social studies and assessments. Moreover, she provides support in the development and implementation of the corporate and project-specific Environmental and Social Management Systems, as well as in the development, roll out and implementation of Alcazar Energy’s social investment program.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Mariam worked as an Environmental and Social consultant at Environment and Development Group, providing guidelines, and identifying priority areas of intervention and mitigation plans for private sector, international financial institutions, and public sector clients. She worked in accordance with international environmental and social standards, as well as local laws, providing support to clients in diverse sectors, including renewable energy.

Mariam has 2 years of experience and holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, focusing on communication for development purposes.

Sharon joined Alcazar Energy in 2016 and currently serves as QHSE Coordinator. Her responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining the company QHSE Integrated Management System, processes, and document control. Working alongside with the Environmental and Social Manager, she makes sure that the KPIs and records are up to date.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Sharon has worked in administration and coordination related positions in the UAE for the past 21 years across a variety of industry sectors such as Oil Services, Health & Safety, Marine and Transportation.

Sharon has over 20 years of experience and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, NEBOSH IGC and a variety of Quality Management Certifications.

Michael joined Alcazar Energy in 2017 and has since served as its Finance Director. His responsibilities include overseeing financial reporting, corporate budgeting, treasury, business control and corporate and project tax structuring/compliance. He is also involved in the design, maintenance and management of our ERP.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Michael held various senior positions throughout Europe in the Finance Department of renewable energy multinational Iberdrola. Before joining Iberdrola, Michael worked in the Finance department of the Spanish construction multinational Dragados.

Michael has 20+ years of experience and holds his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Madrid’s Rey Juan Carlos University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bradford in the UK.

Bilal joined Alcazar Energy as Accounts Director in 2018. He is responsible for MIS reporting, development and maintenance of accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate/timely financial statements. He is also responsible for overseeing the external audit process for Alcazar Energy.

Prior to Alcazar Bilal worked in different capacities with Al Ghurair, Petrofac, Arthur Andersen and KPMG.

Bilal has over 30 years of experience and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Sammati brings over 10 years of extensive experience in private equity fund management and financial reporting.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Sammati served as AVP at Apex Fund Services in DIFC Dubai and previously held the position of AVP at JP Morgan in India. Her career also includes a managerial role at Macquarie, where she honed her expertise in financial management and investment strategies.

As a Chartered Accountant from ICAI, Sammati is well-equipped to provide strategic financial oversight and support to our team.

Zharko brings over 15 years of expertise in the finance and banking sectors.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, he held significant positions at two of North Macedonia's leading institutions: Stopanska Banka Skopje and Alkaloid Skopje, where he managed financial and treasury operations.

Zharko holds an MBA in Management from the University "Goce Delchev" in Shtip, North Macedonia, equipping him with advanced skills in financial management and strategic planning to support Alcazar Energy’s mission of developing renewable energy projects in emerging markets in North Macedonia.

Maryana brings over 7 years of extensive experience in cost control and project management within the Power & Water, Industrial, Gas & Oil, Nuclear Sector. Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, she served as a Cost Controller Team Leader at Altrad Middle East, where she led a team of four. In this role, Maryana was responsible for managing and controlling all financial and commercial aspects of active projects across the Power & Water, Industrial, Gas & Oil, Nuclear Sector.

Maryana is an Industrial Engineer and began her career at Doosan upon moving from Venezuela to the UAE.

In this role she will provide comprehensive support to Finance team.

Athira is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Certified Financial Risk Manager from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

With over 8 years of experience in alternative investments, Athira has honed her expertise in fund administration and accounting with Apex Fund Services and Intertrust Group. She also worked as a Portfolio Manager with JP Morgan in their Asset and Wealth Management division.

Brigette joined Alcazar Energy in 2023 as Financial Accountant. She is in charge of the day-to-day business processes, administration, financial management, maintains accounting system, planning and forecasting corporate activities and prepares financial reporting and compliance.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Brigette was Head of Accounts with Nimbus Services DMCC, UAE, with broad spectrum of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, corporate finance, tax compliance and reporting. Earlier in her career she was an outsource accountant in a management consultancy firm in Dubai and an Auditor in a private Auditing firm in the Philippines.

Brigette has 7 years of experience and holds a BS in Accounting in the Philippines and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Joanna joined Alcazar Energy in 2022 as a HR Manager, developing and implementing talent strategies across key HR areas and managing the day-to-day HR operations. Jo has over 10 years of experience.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, she has worked in HR Generalist roles where she looked after the full employee life cycle, payroll and supported and executed the people agenda across Europe, India and Asia, within Private Equity/Asset Management and Consulting houses; including McKinsey & Company, Apollo Global Management and Contour Global.

With a tenure of over 20 years in various industries, including Banking, Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Consultancy, Rebecca brings a wealth of experience to Alcazar Energy. Having spent the last 13 years in Dubai, she is well-versed in Office Management, Executive Assistance, HR, Finance, and Admin Functions.

Rebecca initially joined Alcazar Energy in 2014, where she served as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Office Manager for 3 years. She then moved to a UAE-based private Consultancy Business where she oversaw operations, leading the HR, Finance, and Admin Department

We are delighted to welcome Rebecca back to the Alcazar Energy team in 2023, where she will be EA to Partners & Special Corporate Projects.

Phoebe brings over 12 years of experience as a Senior Executive Assistant.

Prior to joining Alcazar Energy, Phoebe spent 10 years in investment banking, serving as Senior Executive Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer in the Private Banking sector.

In this role, she provided extensive support to the COO and the team, contributing to the smooth and efficient management of operations.

Phoebe began her career in London and relocated to the UAE two years ago. Her extensive international experience positions her well to provide comprehensive support to our Partners.

Nerrizza joined Alcazar Energy in May 2024 as a Receptionist and Corporate Support, her role is to ensure the front desk welcomes guests positively and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.

Her journey to Alcazar Energy was paved by her prior role as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator at ADA Cosmetics, where she adeptly managed administrative, sales, and marketing functions, with a specialized focus on sustainability within the MENA region.

With over 14 years of experience in administrative support and sales, Nerrizza brings a unique blend of administrative prowess, sales acumen, and client-centric approach to Alcazar Energy.
