Alcazar Energy Opens Public Consultation for Landmark Stip Wind Farm Project
Skopje, North Macedonia – 31 March 2026 – Alcazar Energy announces the public disclosure of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Stip Wind Farm, marking a major milestone in the development of what is set to become the largest renewable energy project in North Macedonia.
With a planned installed capacity of up to 396 MW, the Stip Wind Farm represents a transformative step toward strengthening the country’s energy independence, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and accelerating progress toward national climate goals. The project is also a key contributor to North Macedonia’s Just Energy Transition Investment Platform, launched at COP28.
The project is expected to be financed by leading international financial institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Erste Group Bank AG (ERSTE) underscoring its strong alignment with international environmental, social, and governance standards.
The ESIA has been prepared in full accordance with national legislation and internationally recognized frameworks, including the IFC Performance Standards, the EBRD Environmental and Social Policy, and European Investment Bank (EIB) Environmental and Social Standards. It provides a comprehensive assessment of potential environmental and social impacts, alongside clearly defined mitigation and monitoring measures to ensure that all impacts remain limited, localized, and responsibly managed.
As part of Alcazar Energy’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, the ESIA disclosure period is running from 27 February to 27 April 2026. During this time, stakeholders are invited to review the project documentation and actively participate in the consultation process.
A series of public consultation events, beginning the week of 30 March, will provide an open platform for dialogue with the project team. These sessions are designed to ensure that local communities, institutions, and all interested stakeholders can ask questions, share feedback, and contribute meaningfully to the project’s development.
The ESIA documentation, including a Non-Technical Summary, is available online and in local municipalities. Materials have been prepared in multiple languages to ensure accessibility and inclusiveness for all stakeholders.
All feedback received during the disclosure period will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the final ESIA, as well as into the management plans that will guide construction and operations.
“Transparency and accountability are central to how we develop projects,” said a representative of Alcazar Energy. “We operate fully in accordance with the laws of North Macedonia and in line with international standards. This process ensures that the Stip Wind Farm is developed responsibly, in partnership with communities, and with long-term benefits for the country.”
Alcazar Energy remains committed to delivering a project that combines technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and meaningful local engagement, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy future for North Macedonia.
